Many people regard the city of Athens as the cradle of Western civilization and the Parthenon as the symbol of Democracy. Experience an Athens taxi private tour by Yanni, which blends together many of the city’s principal modern and classical sights and the port of Piraeus (Faliron) where St. Paul disembarked when he came from North Greece to visit Athens. Our Athens private tour includes an overview of the modern city and its striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past. We’ll drive by the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenaic Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896). We’ll see vistas of the Presidential Palace (ex Royal Palace), government buildings, and elegant homes. Continuing, your Athens taxi tour chauffeur will drive you along Panepistimiou Avenue where you can view the Catholic Cathedral, and the “Neoclassical Trilogy,” (Academy, University, National Library), and the Omonia Square.

Athens Acropolis

Afterward, we will take you to the Temple of Olympian Zeus and  Hadrian’s arch, two of the most famous and elegant monuments from the Roman period of Athens, the Acropolis with its many monuments atop its rocky base, including the majestic Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Areopagus (“the Hill of Ares”) where St. Paul preached to the Athenians and the Erechtheion with its Porch of Maidens.

We will drive by the foot of the Acropolis through the Plaka district (Athens’ old city) and we’ll visit the ancient Agora, where St. Paul was preaching to the people of Athens, the Roman Agora & Hadrian’s library. Finally enjoy the spectacular view of the city from the site of the Orthodox church of St. George on Lycabettus hill, the highest hill in town, and remember Athens for the rest of your life.

Ancient Corinth

After lunch, Athens taxi tours will drive you westwards along the scenic coast, until we reach the Corinth Canal where we will make a short stop to take in the breathtaking view of the Isthmus. Shortly thereafter we reach and visit the ancient town of Corinth where St. Paul lived and preached for two years. Back in ancient times, Corinth was amongst the richest city-states and this is quite evident by its remains, including the large agora (market place) and Apollo’s Temple (dated to the 6th Cent. B.C). We will also make a brief stop at the site of the ancient port of Kenchreai where St. Paul disembarked when he came to Corinth.
We will end our taxi private tour returning back to Athens in the same way.
You can customize this private tour at any time, either on the way together with your private chauffeur or in advance by contacting our Athens Taxi Tours team.
